Hi Kids! Thanks for stopping by!Did you know your library is more than just books? True, we do have lots of books, but we also have magazines and on this page links to awesome online fun. While the web links at the bottom of this page will give you great ideas for books to read, please keep in mind that we do not have all the books on our shelves. If you find a really interesting book we don't have, you may be able to borrow it from another Sage system library. Just ask your library staff for help! |
Pre-Readers
Even children who can't yet talk or look at books will benefit from being read to by a trusted parent, sibling, or friend. Your library contains many items designed especially for babies, toddlers, and other children who can't read, including board books (thick pages for little hands) and picture books (with colorful pictures and just a few words). From September-May, the library hosts a weekly Story Time. All children up through 6 years old are welcome, as long as they bring a parent or caregiver with them! Many fun, free websites are also available to teach and entertain young children. A few links are shown below, and you can also type "free online reading websites for children" into your internet search engine to find lots more. |
Confident Readers
It's so exciting when someone learns to read and steps into the wonderful world of imagination and knowledge! The library has books designed just for new readers: picture books (with colorful illustrations and just a few common words), easy readers (Levels K, 1, 2, & 3), and several beginning readers series. Most of the easy reader books are gathered into one shelf so the kids can find them easily. Websites featuring books and games for new readers are easy to find. Just type "free websites for elementary students" in your web browser and see what pops up! Here are a few to get you started. |
